Wayne

Wayne is one of the protagonists of Sweven. He used to be a niche musician, but was turned into a vampire. He is Alec's husband.

Personality

Wayne is genuinely a very goofy, kind and honest man -- extending his kindness to humans and non-humans alike. He doesn't like to see anyone in pain. His first impressions are always cool and mysterious, making his silly outbursts more bizarre to most of the city-folk. Most noticeable when he spaces out, he has a melancholic side too. Big flirt with Alec - and only Alec (#committedhusband) - but gets bashful when he flirts back. He's also a self-proclaimed "suit-enthusiast" with an interest in fashion.

Wayne is afraid of losing himself to the vampiric urges that trouble him. He stubbornly tries to continue living a 'normal' human life because of this and refuses to drink anyone's blood other than Alec's. He's insecure about his face since he no longer has a reflection. He doesn't have a good grasp on his powers.

Story

Wayne is part of Ezekiel's "help service", they take requests to deal with supernatural situations. Wayne joined because Alec did. He often has to use his powers for the job, but honestly prefers to avoid anything other than "normal" strength when it comes down to getting physical.

The group ends up running into increasingly aggressive monsters after a party of monster hunters comes to town in search of a powerful vampire.

He slowly finds himself hungering for blood and flesh more and more and doesn’t understand why (it’s because of multiple things going on in the rest of the story). Since he was already fearful about his vampirism, and since Alec still doesn’t know much about dealing with it, Wayne tried keeping it to himself and bottling it up. This proved detrimental, leading to him having an identity crisis.

Past

Wayne was formally an up and coming musician living in a small town. He was known for being experimental while consistently including a piano in his songs. One night, he was killed by a man who he trusted. Several years later Wayne found himself awake again as a vampire; by then the entire town's population had somehow vanished. This is when he met Alec, who offered to give him his blood and travel together. Now they're married and work with Ezekiel to deal with paranormal problems.

He uses singing as catharsis. While he doesn’t really want an audience anymore, sometimes it seems like he’s trying to reach God with his voice - bitterly. He was very quiet and prone to crying when Alec first found him.
