Alec

Alec is one of the protagonists of Sweven. He used to be a knight in the Royal Guard, but now that the Royal Family is gone, he works as a paranormal investigator of sorts. He is Wayne's husband.

Personality

Alec doesn’t like attention or certain kinds of praise from strangers and tells everyone to keep quiet about his past while he's around. Alec is coy, sarcastic and laid-back but gets serious when needed (or angry). Sometimes he blurts weird or rude things out in a stone-faced manner. He thinks randomly lying is funny. Usually hides his honest feelings to people he doesn't know well unless he wants to tell someone he doesn't like them (or if they're a kid) - he's very deliberate with how he acts with people. Despite his behavior at times, he's also a very compassionate and conversational person. He's also really good at reading people. Helping people in any way he can is always his #1 priority even if he acts like he doesn't want to. Alec could be the nicest man you've ever met, a brick wall or a menace depending on who you are.

Hobbies: Drawing, painting, cooking, researching, used to play the guitar

Likes: Wayne's singing, quiet sunny days, cats

Dislikes: Loudmouths, nosy people, pointless violence

Story

Alec is part of Ezekiel's "help service", they take requests to deal with supernatural situations. Alec joined because he felt like he needed something to do -- also as thanks to Ezekiel. Since he has no special abilities nor much knowledge on the matter, Alec usually either acts as bait or focuses on the clients. He is famously skilled at fighting however; against both humans and nonhumans in the right scenario.

The group ends up running into increasingly aggressive monsters after a party of monster hunters comes to town in search of a powerful vampire.

He's concerned about Wayne's wellbeing but isn't sure what to do.

Past

Alec lived with his sister Fabienne until he was forcefully drafted as a knight. After learning of a revolt effort a high ranking royal knight was secretly planning, he became a rebel. When that knight was executed Alec was spared via exile by Samuel's order - then journeyed his way back and assassinated the Queen. It was during this trek that Alec met Phoebe and Wayne.

His attempts to be standoffish are a result of how he was poorly treated for most of his life. For a long time, he believed his sister was the only person who didn't hate him. His leader proved otherwise but died as a result (that's how Alec sees it, at least). Getting attached to anyone else scared him and his sense of self-worth was at rock-bottom. For a long time he was convinced he was going to die early and brutally, sometimes he says “I’m alive” to himself and sighs in relief. He started getting counseling a few years back and practices keeping himself healthy.

Abilities

None outside of normal human limits, but monsters seem attracted to him for some reason.

• Alec was super awkward and confused when he and Wayne first started dating because he wasn't used to the affection.
• He usually doesn't like showing people his art.
• Though he does not really want kids himself, he's actually very fond of and respectful towards them.
• Alec is not religious but is spiritual; he prays at grave sites and ruins frequently.
